Thomas Jefferson wrote the following phrase in 1776, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
A little less than 200 years later, Dr. Martin Luther King reflected “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
And in 2022, we have President Joe Biden commented “it is long overdue” to have black female representation on the United State Supreme Court.
By stating this, President Biden has reflected our children should be judged by the color of their skin. Otherwise, black, red, white or purple wouldn’t matter as all color would be equally represented on the SCOTUS.
Additionally, a person worthy of representation on the high court should be judged based upon their sex, which in today’s world, has devolved into gender.
Should anyone expect to have a fair and just trial when the judges hearing the case put the color of their skin and their gender ahead of the facts of the case?
A short time ago, a sector of America was called deplorable. The American Heritage Dictionary defines deplorable as “Worthy of severe condemnation or reproach”.
When the highest officials in the land are called to execute justice, what could be more deplorable than ruling based on one’s own color or gender.
While a person is equal under law and equal in the sight of their maker, judging others based on my personal attributes is the most base level on Maslow’s pyramid, not the pinnacle.
