About Ted Leithart
I was born and grew up in Columbus, Ohio. Columbus is ‘home’ for the Leitharts, as family members have owned small businesses around central Ohio since 1861.
What were my interests while I was growing up? Music was and is a passion, from singing to playing the piano as well as the pipe organ to dancing to theatre. I also enjoyed helping my father in his work, from doing administrative work for his doctor’s office as well as various repairs and upgrades to the apartments he owned.
I was a student of history, focusing on American history going back to its roots at Runnymede and recall visiting there when I was 11. Other travel memories include Mount Rainier, the 1962 World’s Fair, Yellowstone Park with Old Faithful, London, Geneva, and Paris.
We were extremely connected with various convention circuits, focused on medical conventions as well as weekends focused on God, Family and Country symposiums.
By the time I was in middle school, I was laser-focused on entrepreneurial things, as I moved from a small, private inner-city school to public school and quickly found I had little in common with my classmates (and my classmates made it clear they desired to keep it that way). As a result, I did handyman-type projects for several neighbors, had a paper route and through my paper route, had multiple friendships with retired millionaires.
Before I was 17, while still in high school, I was attending high school part-time and working 25-hours a week at a local Jaguar dealership.
Hillsdale College was the only college I considered and they were kind enough to accept me. Here I met multiple business leaders as well as Madsen Pirie (Adam Smith Institute), Stuart Butler (Heritage Foundation), Alexander Haig as well as Ronald Reagan.
While at Hillsdale I became extremely interested in alternative medicine and ‘life-time’ fitness as I had lived with daily migraine headaches for years.
After transferring to a university offering engineering, my favorite past-time was not cheering the Buckeyes to victory but buying and selling New Old Stock Ferrari parts in what became Dennis McCann All-Ferrari Parts.
Highpoints in my career after graduation include designing a heat treat calibration system for tempering glass; designing the ground support equipment for the B-1B; rebuilding mechanical components on various 1950-1975 Ferraris; introducing Technical-Price competitions to a GE Aircraft Engines; single-handedly resolving a contract default situation with the USAF; developing a new method to sell broadcast advertising (other than Arbitron or Nielsen); demonstrating how to save millions/ year to Procter & Gamble as well as assisting dozens of small businesses to improve their net profits.
Today, I use the same tenacity, diligence and passion focused to challenge others to their highest level and calling.
